ARC ask relfect & create

A new method to promote children's creativity
activities

For now, we are offering the PDF files of two activities that any person can download for free. The first activity is inspired by the new problems that have arisen from the global pandemic. The second relates to Objective Number 10 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals : “Reduced Inequalities”. With this activity, we want to encourage the creation of an environment that reflects the many challenges that persons with visual handicaps must face every day. .

Expect many more topics soon! The next one will be, Life in old age.

if you want to share an interesting topic so that we can develop it in the near future.

The activities of this method are intended to be guided by teachers in schools; however, given the current circumstances, they can be adapted for their development at home, with the guidance of parents and caregivers, taking into account the following steps:

First: Tell your students or their parents in advance that they should collect a variety of recyclable materials at home. Examples are cardboard boxes, egg boxes, bottles, plastic containers of various shapes, bottle caps, office supplies like paper clips, scissors, tape, etc. You can see images of other recommended materials at the bottom of this page.

Second: Download the activity you want to do, and visit the What is ARC? section to better understand what it is about. Then send them the PDF of the activity and tell them to print it out, if possible. Otherwise, they should have white sheets of paper. Explain and motivate them about the importance of these activities to stimulate creativity. As you will see, the PDF documents are very clear. In a simple way, they guide children or their caregivers step by step through the five stages of the method. Children who cannot yet read should do the activity as directed by their parents.

Third: The final stage of the method is to present the results of the activity to classmates. If the activity takes place at home, you can propose a video conference where each child presents their ideas. Another alternative is to ask for photos of the results, accompanied by a small informative text. If you wish, you can upload the images on our Facebook page, or send them via email

If you have children at home during this time of quarantine and you want to do an activity designed especially to exercise their creative skills to the fullest, we invite you to do an ARC activity! Our activities help children, through original illustrations, to think about the challenges that different people in different contexts are currently having. It invites them to reflect, propose ideas, and build prototypes.

For the development of these activities, these simple steps must be taken into account:

  • Download the PDF of the activity you want to do. Please read it carefully and print it out if possible. If not, have sheets of paper available.
  • Collect lots of materials at home, such as cardboard boxes, egg boxes, bottles, plastic containers of various shapes, toothpicks, aluminum foil, bottle caps, and craft or office supplies like paper clips, scissors, adhesive tape, etc.
  • Get to work! Read the statements and questions with the children, and invite them to reflect. Join them in the process of proposing challenges and ideas, without influencing their opinions. This activity is about letting them create freely; do not direct the children, unless they cannot read, and only help with what is absolutely necessary.
  • Lastly, ask them to present and explain the result of their work.

When you are done, you can share photos or videos of the results on our social networks. Contact us if you want to share your opinions or comments, or if you are interested in doing more topics with your children!

How could we survive without seeing?

This is a challenge for millions of people in the world. This theme helps children to empathize with visually impaired people by considering their needs as users of the solutions the children create. Before doing the activity with the class, some games and challenges with blindfolds are recommended as useful.

Recommended Materials

It is important to consider the age of the children before putting some of the materials at their disposal! / The more diverse the materials, the more it will help stimulate creative thinking and motivate  kids to engage in the activity. Cardboard, scissors and tape are the essential materials.
